Dying Flowers - A Poem

GO AWAY OVERLY DEPRESSING WRITING PHASE, NOBODY LIKES YOU! *kicks her overly depressing writing off the interwebs*
Ehem. Sorry about that.
But I really am annoyed that I'm only able to write depressing poems.

I sit on my windowsill
To gaze at the flowers
That were once so beautiful
And now hang dead on their trees

It makes me wonder
Just wonder
If they are there on accident
Or if maybe
Just maybe
If they are there on purpose

What will become of me
When you are all gone?
Will I be like the flowers
That now hang dead on their trees?

It makes me question
Just question
Why I am here in the first place
But I think
Just think
That I am here for a reason

  1. That's not so depressing... it's a tad depressing.... but, I mean, you think you're here for a reason... that's not so depressing :]
Besides, I bet you could write happy ones. You just have to try and take time with it. I find that writing poetry is best for me when I'm in the car and being driven somewhere. Then I just look at the window and think about it... then write down a couple lines that come to me. It's best when it's 20+ minute drive, but really, any drive :]
I don't know if that will help any xD But HOPEfully it will :]

  2. I think it will help Skyril! Thank you for the advice. I'll try it next time I'm in the car.

Y'know, I'm starting to think that the reason I can't write happy poems is that my only poetry book is by Edgar Allan Poe. And not many of his poems are flowers and sunshine xD

(But I do own Through the Looking Glass, which has the poem Jabberwocky in it. Love that poem.)

  3. Very nice Thalia. Nice but sad. *hugs*

  4. Thanks Ann.

I hope to get some happy writing up soon.

  5. I love it Thalia. It reflects what a remarkable person you are! :)
You are an amazing writer and poet. I feel this poems is lovely, thoughtful, and sad. But not depressing.
I also like the fact you could express yourself so clearly. I have trouble with that at times. But I think writing poetry, especially when feeling down can really help with what you are going through.

  6. Really awesome poem. Not really depressing. Sad yes but in a good way.

    Ahh Jabberwocky.

Twas brillig and the slithy toves
Did gyre and gimble in the wabe
    All mimsy were the borogroves
    And the mome raths outgrabe

  7. Kallista - Thank you. I don't find myself to be all that great of a person or writer, but I'm glad that you think of me that way. You're right, though. Writing, especially poetry, but any kind really, makes it easier to express yourself.

Octa - Thank you. I took your advice on my last poem and tried not to rhyme.

    "Beware the Jabberwock, my son!
The jaws that bite, the claws that catch!
Beware the Jubjub bird and shun
    The frumious Bandersnatch!"
